Diane Mendelson to serve as the new Associate Pastor at St. Paul&rsquo;s.&nbsp; Pastor Diane&rsquo;s appointment officially begins July 1 and her first Sunday with us will be June 30, 2013.</p>
<p><span class="full-image-float-right ssNonEditable"><span><img style="width: 125px;" src="http://www.spcelina.org/storage/post-images/Diane%20Mendelson.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1366287069775" alt="" /></span></span>Pastor Diane comes to us from Indian Run United Methodist Church in Dublin, Ohio where she has served in various ministry and pastoral roles for the past 12 years.&nbsp; Diane was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio.&nbsp; She attended Franklin University.&nbsp; She is married to Mark and has two adult children.&nbsp; Her daughter, Merceydez, is a first grade teacher in Dublin and is married to Dustin.&nbsp; Her son, Trevor, is a senior at Marshall University in Huntington, WV where he plays football and is a business major.&nbsp; Diane joined the staff of Indian Run UMC in 2001 in Children&rsquo;s Ministry.&nbsp; She transitioned in 2006 to a new role as the Director of Discipleship Ministries.&nbsp; Diane was licensed as a Local Pastor in 2010 and has served as an Associate Pastor since.&nbsp; Diane&rsquo;s experience has included overseeing, leading and developing programs within Children, Youth, and Adult Ministries as well as Pastoral Care and Preaching.&nbsp; Diane describes &ldquo;that she has been on an awesome journey and looks forward to continuing the journey of leading others to know and be in relationship with Christ.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Coming up in April watch for a special new series all about living on mission called S[C]ENT.&nbsp; On April 14, 21 and 28 at St. Paul&rsquo;s will be celebrating all the ways we can participate in mission through our church.&nbsp; Displays around the Sanctuary will help highlight the many ministries supported through our Matthew25 Mission Team.&nbsp; This is a perfect opportunity to find the place where God is calling you to serve!</p>

<p><strong>Missional Workshop</strong>&nbsp;- <em>Sunday, April 21, 6-8pm in the Fellowship Hall</em> - &ldquo;What does it really mean to be missional?&rdquo;&nbsp; Come for this special video presentation by renown mission expert and author, Michael Frost.&nbsp; Pastor Matt will lead a discussion on this crucial question.&nbsp; This is an important topic for the future of St. Paul&rsquo;s.&nbsp; Everyone is invited to attend.&nbsp; If you are involved or lead any of our mission initiatives at St. Paul&rsquo;s we hope you will make this workshop a priority.</p>
<p><strong>Christ and the Workplace</strong>&nbsp;- <em>Wednesday, April 24, 6:30-8pm in the Fellowship Hall</em> - How does your faith and work life integrate? &nbsp;Come and wrestle with that question on this special night organized by St. Paul's Men's Ministry. &nbsp;You will hear from Tom Ahl, Owner of Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships in Lima, Ohio and Wes Lytle, President/CEO of U.S. Plastic Corp. in Lima, Ohio. &nbsp;These two will offer a unique perspective on how their faith has shaped their business. &nbsp;Anyone is welcome to attend. &nbsp;Free childcare is available.</p>
<p><strong>&ldquo;A Child&rsquo;s Hope&rdquo; Information Meeting -&nbsp;</strong><em>Sunday, April 28, 6pm in Room 114-115</em> - A brand new ministry is taking shape at St. Paul&rsquo;s to focus on Adoption/Foster Care.&nbsp; If you have any interest in this crucial need, please plan to attend this meeting.&nbsp; This informal time is a place to meet with seasoned veterans in Adoption/Foster Care.&nbsp; Ask questions and find support.&nbsp; Or come just to learn more about this new ministry.&nbsp; If you have any questions please contact the church office and we will connect you with leaders Mindy Sudhoff or Brian &amp; Kelly Anderson.</p>
<p><span lang="en-US"><strong>"Good Works" Mission Trip Information Meeting</strong> - <em>Wednesday, May 1, 8pm in Room 606</em> -&nbsp;</span>Have you ever thought of going on a short-term mission trip? Would you like to be part of a 32-hour mission experience that will allow you to &ldquo;be&rdquo; a blessing and at the same time &ldquo;receive&rdquo; a blessing?&nbsp; The next Good Works Team is forming soon and the scheduled mission trip date is October 4-5, 2013.&nbsp; Please come to the informational meeting on&nbsp; May 1.&nbsp; Good Works exists to connect people from all walks of life with people in poverty so that the kingdom of God can be experienced. Come hear about this Community of Hope in Athens, Ohio.</p>]]></description><wfw:commentRss>http://www.spcelina.org/home/rss-comments-entry-33205784.xml</wfw:commentRss></item><item><title>St. Paul's UMC and St. John Lutheran combine to collect 1909 pairs of shoes</title><dc:creator>Matt Reynolds</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 22 Mar 2013 12:42:44 +0000</pubDate><link>http://www.spcelina.org/home/st-pauls-umc-and-st-john-lutheran-combine-to-collect-1909-pa.html</link><guid isPermaLink="false">622580:7252897:33094408</guid><description><![CDATA[<p>St. John Lutheran Church recently led an iniative to collect used shoes for a program called "Shoes for Water." &nbsp;These shoes are used by a ministry and sold in developing countries around the world. &nbsp;These shoes not only provide better footwear for those that need it, but the proceeds are used to build water wells and provide clean water in those same regions.</p>
<p>St. Paul's partnered with St. John on this exciting project and the response was dramatic. &nbsp;St. Paul's collected 1114 pairs of shoes. &nbsp;St. John collected 795. &nbsp;Together that is 1909 pairs of shoes collected in just a couple of weeks!</p>

<p>St. Paul&rsquo;s is partnering with St. John Lutheran Church who is organizing a program called &ldquo;Shoes For Water&rdquo; in which we donate our old, but preferably &ldquo;gently used&rdquo; shoes (even mismatches!) to a group who sells the shoes and uses the profits to build wells for the people in developing countries.</p>
