Shoes for Water 2013 (13)St. John Lutheran Church recently led an iniative to collect used shoes for a program called "Shoes for Water." These shoes are used by a ministry and sold in developing countries around the world. These shoes not only provide better footwear for those that need it, but the proceeds are used to build water wells and provide clean water in those same regions. St. Paul's partnered with St. John on this exciting project and the response was dramatic. St. Paul's collected 1114 pairs of shoes. St. John collected 795. Together that is 1909 pairs of shoes collected in just a couple of weeks!
Photos from Rev. Gladstone Joseph, a missionary pastor from Chennai, India. These pictures capture many baptisms and outreach events.
As a part of our Matthew25 mission fund, St. Paul's sent some money to various organizations during Christmas time in 2011. They have responded with their thanks and sent pictures of how they used the money. One is Devnar School for the Blind in Hyderabad, India. The money St. Paul's sent was used for a Christmas celebration for the 300 or more blind students. They were all given a good meal & they enacted the nativity play (angels in white dress, Mary, Joseph, three kings). As you can see in the pictures they all are blind with grand costumes. On one of the posters you can read "Sponsored by St. Paul's Church." This is one way that St. Paul's continues to live out our mission to touch and make lives whole in Christ.
